n. f.
1. 'Decider', deciding game (in sport, cards, etc.).
2. Se faire la belle: To 'break out', to escape from jail. (Freedom to the ex-con is known as la belle, parole or conditional release as la demi-belle; the term for unconditional release is la belle des belles.)
3. Mener quelqu'un en belle: To intentionally lead someone into a trap.

1. L'avoir belle: To be 'onto a cushy number', to have it easy. Vous, les hauts fonctionnaires, vous l'avez belle! You chaps at the Ministry, you're riding on the gravy train! Se la faire belle:
  a To 'lead the life of Riley', to lead an easy life.
  b To 'paint the town red', to go on a spree.
2. L'avoir de belle: To be 'on a winning ticket', to have a highly successful run.
